 Lightning Wood [Byeokjomok]

natural object

A jujube tree struck by lightning is harder than stone, so it cannot be easily split or cut with an ax or saw. It is popular as a painting material because of the traditional belief that having Byeokjomok drives away evil spirits, but because it is hard on the back side, it has a practical feature that it can be used for a long time without changing the letters once carved.

Jujube trees are inherently strong, so they often grow into old trees and are hard wood with a higher density than other trees.
It is not easy to find genuine wall lumber on the market as the number of lightning rods has increased in modern times and the probability of trees being struck by lightning has decreased. Therefore, you should be careful when trying to purchase a high-priced wall wood coating. Recently, artificial products made by processing ordinary jujube trees under high pressure to make them as strong as jujube trees struck by lightning are being used. However, since jujube wood is originally hard and dense, it is a suitable material to use as a painting even if it is not struck by lightning.
